Free as in beer versus free as in speech

Reading about how to burn almost any file to a playable DVD on LifeHacker, there’s a post in the comments about the difference between free as in beer and free as in speech. I must admit that I thought they were the same, I’ve only seen “as in speech” a few times. My interest in the DVD burning wained as it’s windows only and our old box doesn’t have a DVD burner. However, now I know the difference between what’s meant by these two terms. Did you?

I’m now using the latest version of WordPress. I’ve hacked a wee bit of the theme I’m using to include my own images, but there’s still a load of things needing done. Of course, content should be the first thing, but I’ll get round to that eventually.

The task - a picture a day for a year. I don’t remember where I read about this, but it’s something I’m trying to do. Almost all of the pictures so far have been taken with the camera built into the screen of my laptop thanks to a little script that I got from the article I read.

This is a shot with me holding a camera that I really should be making more use of.

which theme I’m going to settle on. Once I do that I’ll Google some tutorials and try to hack the theme to suit my needs. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

For some reason, the main page in this theme only shows a bit of the post - the image in the last post didn’t appear even when it wasn’t part of the “new” section. I’ve been away from hacking themes and how WordPress works for a while - not that I ever was an expert - and don’t know where to start to find the solution. Another thing I need to work out is how to include links - for once I’ve actually written an about page, available on the About section, but not available by a link other than this post.

Oh well, we’re off and running.
